In the CLM segment on pg. 159 of the IG guide, the composite element, CLM05, identifies the type of bill being sent. These codes are from the UB92 guide. When you combine CLM05-1 and CLM05-3, it would be the same as what you see in form locater 4 of your UB92 paper claim.

Subject: Inpatient/Outpatient claims

Hello everyone,

Will the outpatient claims be submitted through 837 Institutional transactions? If yes, how do we differentiate the inpatient and outpatient claims which are submitted through 837 Institutional transactions?

Thanks,

Thenn.
