     I haven't noticed this particular problem, but in general LCD displays
tend to have a "washed out" look compared to CRTs, so if your TV is a CRT
model, that could be the reason.  Your LCD monitor could also have a
different color temperature setting than the TV; if your monitor has such a
setting, try playing around with it (IIRC, the "standard" color temperature
is 6400K).
