I am having 64bit version of Kubuntu on my laptop. correct me if i am
wrong, i have to use amd-64 version of the distro for 64 bit
architecture of intel too.

if that is not the case, i386 would be 32 bit? if yes, then will it
work with intel 64 bit intel core 2 duo?

It looks you're using an amd64 transcode binary. It should
work when you install the proper i386 package.
