Rebooting should not be necessary, just run ldconfig after installing
each package in the future.

Well, it's a crime that a Slackware based distro would strip strace
out of the toolset, because it's damned important. As important as
ldd and ps. I would file a bug report with the distro maintainer.
Slamd64 12.0 has been out for a long time, and it is worth the
upgrade, based on my reading of the release notes.
