GUI types should check out avidemux2. Though, frankly, the only thing that the GUI makes easier is correcting synch issues. For that, avidemux rules. It's also the right tool for doing vobsub -> srt ocr. For doing actual transcoding, I think the GUI is a handicap. BTW, I have worked quite a bit now with Transcode, mencoder, ffmpeg, and avidemux... Transcode still rules. It handles more input types and has better framerate control options than any other tool. And it's filter set is richer than the others as well (in tools that do useful things... Having 10 sharping tools because none of them works isn't much use). Each of the others has it's special strengths, but if you are going to learn one tool well and use it for everything, only Transcode will do everything that you might need. But newbies take note: Video transcoding is not a simple thing. Reading the documentation and doing a lot of testing is the only road to happiness, whichever tool you use.
