And did you add all the xml at the same time or did the Member package exist previously?
Maybe a cache issue? or (and I've done it before!) were editing the wrong xml file. ie is the xml file at /opt/www/htdocs/projects/mensclub/config/transfer/transfer.xml that is being read the same one as you are editing.
