Just back from a week in Jamaica, hence the late reply ;-) I did an experiment in which I was able to implement a form of single table inheritance using Transfer, which I wrote about on my blog. I did not foresee any problems with the cache, so I'm not sure to what you are referring. Do you have any links to the posts that you read that suggest this can be a problem?
