Thanks for the tip. I remember during a great presentation Bob gave that I
asked him if this was possible which he said it was and that he had some
idea on how to achieve it.

Looks like he certainly did - I'll check out the blog posts. Be great to see
examples of how to use abstract classes to achieve this.

I'm expressing my interest in this topic as well. I'm currently in the
process of evaluating, researching and planning out a process of a
ColdFusion 8//ColdSpring/Transfer stack into a more ambitious
migration to a Java/Spring/Hibernate stack in a webservices style
domain model. The current architecture follows the principles of Bob
Silverberg's "How I Use Transfer Series" with the use of
abstractservices, abstractgateways, and an abstracttransferdecorator.
James, I highly recommend reading Bob's series as it addresses what
you're attempting to do. I'm hoping that this architecture will lend
itself to this type of migration.
