Hi list New versions of the Translate toolkit and of Pootle were released today. The announcement for the toolkit is in a separate mail on the translate-devel list (and the translate-announce list).
This is a major release coinciding with the release of translate toolkit 0.11, although both are released from the previously stable 0.10 branch and does not contain many invasive changes. Version 0.11 or later of the translate toolkit is needed for Pootle 0.11. Although translate toolkit 0.10 might still work, it is not tested. Important changes for upgrading from 0.10 versions are documented on the wiki at http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/important_changes Note under which heading the changes are reported. Changes include: * Fixed the problem where the navigation links sometimes didn't work (next 10 strings, etc.) as well as the navigation bar (bug 218) * Fixed the bug where the status message is not correctly translated directly after changing the interface language. (fix for bug 197) * Pootle will now keep displaying the search text in the search form. (bug 195) * 'templates' is not a possible interface language anymore * Give the user an option to completely overwrite a file on upload. Also add a user right for this action. * Changed the default rights to allow suggest and deny translate rights. * Escape cvsroot, revision and message [Contributed by Lars Kruse] * Fixed a few issues with goals, like missing files and username mismatch. * A fix for non-ascii usernames - I believe we are probably close to having this working everywhere. * Add two more languages as rtl (right-to-left): Aramaic (arc) and Dhivehi (dv). Rewrite direction detection slightly to be more robust. * Use the configured baseurl. (bug 113) [Contributed by Lars Kruse] * Get the default rights for the whole server from pootle.prefs. This allows the administrator to easily set the rights for all non-configured projects (very open server, very restricted, etc.) * Only use unicode-bidi: embed for the navigation bar. This improves rtl display with somewhat untranslated Pootle interface (like Persian) * Enabled English in the default configuration (against my will ;-) * Fix an issue on cvs/svn update with certain style PO files. (Related to bug 217) * Language names are back to English to prepare for fully localised language names - hopefully quite soon. Known issues: * No source RPM package is supplied. Hopefully we can provide these again in future and hopefully this is not too much of an inconvenience. We have been running the release candidates for 0.11 for some time at pootle.wordforge.org and translations for some languages are already complete. Please continue to update the Pootle translations for your language. (Only a few strings were added since 0.10.) The release files are available for download at https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=91920&package_id=144807 Note that there are new dependencies to run Pootle starting with version 0.9. The dependencies for running Pootle 0.11 are: * The Translate toolkit version 0.11 or later (0.10 might work, but is not tested) * jToolkit 0.7.8 or later (http://translate.sourceforge.net/snapshots/ * kid 0.9 or later (http://kid.lesscode.org/) * elementtree (http://effbot.org/downloads/#elementtree) * PyLucene is optional, but helps to speed up searching. It has been confirmed that Lucene searches can have slightly different results. Lucene also allows for a special query syntax. I recommend that people test this for their purposes to determine if they want to install PyLucene. The 0.11 release series is also available in SVN under the wordforge-0-10-branch at https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/translate/src/branches/wordforge-0-10-branch/ The live documentation is available on the wiki at http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootle/index Not all new features are documented yet at the time of this release, but should hopefully documented very soon.
