Given that I think I'm the author of the problematic code, I tried to reproduce, and I guessed this will be realted to have the po files outside the Pootle dir, just like the problem we recently fixed in git. Though I can't reproduce that so easily bzr cat outside the repo works fine here both with absolute and relative paths. However, I have 1.5 installed (I can't remember what version did I have when I wrote the original code), and Cristóbal has 1.3. Maybe this is the difference?
