Hallo. I completely understand what you are saying. Support for
"bookmarks" as been requested before, although that was not in the
context of the search feature, but this makes sense.

If you are really replacing the word (and they are all gone in the
places you have already reviewed), then the search feature will
automatically go to the next occurrence, even if you search from the
start. But I assume in your case that not all the hits are replaced.

One way to work around this in the meanwhile, is to enter one of the
top-level directories (it should work for lower down directories as
well), and perform the search in there. This way Pootle will only move
you through the search results in that directory, and there is a smaller
task to finish at a time. You can even start doing this after you have
already started your big search/review task. This is also a way you can
divide the work between people.

You can even restrict your search to a single file, by starting the
search from the translate page of that file.  Keep in mind that the
search function searches inside the location currently mentioned in the
location bar (the grey bar containing the search box).
