Hallo Tom, and sorry for my slow reply. The terminology project isn't really a very formal thing - it is just a collection of files with useful terminology. We can put just about anything in there that is available that will be useful. I added most files from the old GNOME terminology project in there long ago. The "essential" list of files was a separate effort a while ago of some of our project members to collect about a 1000 terms which will hopefully be of general use in software localisation. I think it is a great start, but would have still liked to improve it a lot more. I just saw "adapter" in there which might not be as universally useful. Still it can be a very useful list, even if not complete. Since we compiled that list we have been blessed by the wonderful poterminology tool in the Translate Toolkit that makes it a lot easier to do project specific terminology based on real term frequencies in a project. Still, I think the "essential" list (or something similar to it) can be very useful. I agree with what you say about context: I see in there "copy right" and "copy left" which are very particular terms, and it will be important for people to know what those refer to. However, just doing the ones that are easy and non-controversial will still make this a very useful resource, especially for translators that are new to the field and might not know the terminology that well. This is part of what we want to integrate with Virtaal as well with what we call Autoterm - an "approved" list for a language that is activated by default in Virtaal without the user needing to do any configuration. So by all means complete the parts of it that is easy and non-controversial. It will be useful. Any languages that don't have it added at the moment, only need to ask.
