You can do that by having a separate checkout, and having symbolic links in the Pootle structure to the structure you have in SVN. Since SVN allows checking out an arbitrary directory, you can also just check out svn:...en/project1/ inside po/project1/en/ A bit of work to set up, but it should work well.
