Dear Andre,

In the EU, as ADSL systems are not approvable under the R&TTE Directive, and
there is confusion as to whether ADSL is a TTE or Network equipment, the
approvals issue is irrelevant. In other countries, where approvals are
available for ADSL systems, the splitter can from part of the approval. In
New Zealand, for example, the splitter must be used during the testing
against PTC 270.

The splitters themselves have associated standards - for the EU, there are
splitter tests in ITU G.992.1 Annex E, and also more detailed tests in TS
101 728 (for POTS, ISDN & microfilters). For the US, there are similar tests
to the TS 101 728 contained in ANSI T1.413. There is also a UK specific test
BT have developed under their 'shared line requirements'.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards

Debbie Balfour

Subject: Splitter in ADSL

Hello treger's,
Does anyone knows if the splitter which is part of a ADSL modem for G.DMT or
full ADSL require telecom approval ?
or is it part of the whole ADSL modem.
Regarding the ADSL regulatory tests as in G.996.1 it appears no specific
electrical tests due to the splitter itself.

thanks for your answer
