Hello TREG: In reply to Taan Linde's question regarding IEC 801-4, this standard is referenced by all the Generic and product family EMC standards so it is a mistake to only look at the scope statement in 801-4. It applies to almost all equipment that has to comply with the EMC Directive. To determine what cables it applies to you should look in the Generic standard EN 50082-1 or the appropriate product family standard - it usually applies to any I/O cable longer than 3 meters regardless of what it is connected to.
