Pat, To quote Austel,
"An equipment permit must be varied if modifications: make it no longer compliant with the requisite technical and other standards against which compliance was required for permit issue: this may include parameter and software changes; change the appearance of a product significantly, or change the name under which the product is to be marketed." Under the new Austel procedures your Australian permit holder is responsible for making this decision and legally liable for errors in judgement.
