Commission has accepted the NPSS invitation to make the technical
presentation at the 24-Apr-96 NPSS dinner meeting. Mr. Robert E. Moro
is coming from New York City, NY to talk with you about CPSC concerns
on ITE products. Probably most of the npss member's firms produce
commercial products not necessarily intended for use in the home.
If these products end up being used in the home they fall under the domain
of the U. S. Federal Government's CPSC, regulated by the CPSC act. Thus
based on a recent membership estimate, at least 60% of our npss members
are involved in products which fall under the CPSC act. Mr. Moro's
presentation will assist you on this matter. he will be available to
answer your questions. See CPSC outline included below.
This special dinner function will be held at the Radisson Inn
Marlborough at I495 and Route 20W. This function is free to paid NPSS
members and $10 for non-members. There will be a registration table at
the door using the official 1996 list of paid members. If you haven't
paid your dues in 1996 or if your not sure of your current dues status,
please check with the treasurer in advance to avoid any embarrassment
or confusion at the door.
The cash bar is open from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and then closed during
the technical presentation. The Radisson Inn has reversed the
Walden Room I & II (1000 square feet) and promised NPSS an excellent
FOUR COURSE DINNER starting between 6:30pm and 6:45pm:
APPETIZER: Fresh Fruit Medley with Sherbet
SALAD: Garden Salad with Raspsberry Vinaigrette on the side
ENTREE: Roast Turkey with Herb Stuffing and Gravy
DESSERT: Cheescake with Seasonal Fruit
Dinner includes rolls and butter, fresh vegetable, potato or rice,
and coffee, tea or milk.
NPSS has reserved a minimum of 30 dinners and the room has a maximum

The 24-Apr-96 NPSS dinner meeting will be held at the Radisson Inn
Marlborough (phone # 508-480-0015) is conveniently located just off
Interstate 495 and Route 20 West, 35 miles from Logan International
Airport (Boston). If your coming from Logan or off Interstate 95 ,
take Interstate 90 (Mass Pike) to Interstate 495 North. Exit 24B is a
few exits north of the Mass Pike entrance. Route 20 West is exit 24B
off Interstate 495 and the take the first right hand turn just 100
yards after entering Route 20 West on to Felton St. The hotel is half a
block further on the right hand side of Felton St.
Mr. Robert E. Moro accepted our invitation to make a presentation at
the NPSS dinner meeting on 24-Apr-96, at 6:00PM. Mr. Moro is a Senior
Compliance Officer of the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
operating out of the Eastern Regional Center at 6 World Trade Center,
3rd Floor, Room 350 in New York, NY 10048-0950. His presentation will
cover the following:
1) Overview of CPSC, its structure, statutes and responsibilities.
2) Field office responsibilities of inspections, investigations and
case development.
3) Review of the Consumer Product Safety Act, its applicable
regulations, and industries reporting responsibilities under
Sections 15 and 37.
4) Examples of problem areas with computer related products, electrical
products, and recall programs involving these types of products.
