Reply to: RE>>Plating materials for metal parts I think that's all well and good, anyway. Cadmium is an inferior metal to use in plating steel anyway (in comparison to zinc). Zinc is also less reactive and poses fewer electrolytic problems when in contact with other dissimilar metals. Besides, cadmium plating wears off more easily than zinc and doesn't look as good when done in the manner that most screw manufacturers perform their plating (as little expense as possible).
