Subject: UL94-HB Connectors in Europe

TREGers,

Our products use connectors and push-buttons made by a German
company. They tell me that in some cases, the plastics used have a
flammability rating of UL94-HB, which is UNacceptable
(except for "small" or "decorative" parts) under EN 60950.

When I inquire how a European company can blatently disregard EN
60950, the answer is, "We comply with EN60130-9, which does permit
class HB materials. If you would like to order the parts by the
1,000's, then we'll be happy to discuss changes in material."

1) Can anyone describe EN60130-9 for me? What industries does it
cover, and how come it conflicts with EN60950?

2) The manufacturer's answer sounds like they're ducking the issue.
What's your opinion?

advTHANKSce

Pete
