To all

Although Martin has informed us all that The new Euro based Australian ISDN BRI
standards are now adopted, there are still some unanswered questions.

1. Why hasn't AUSTEL advised industry and other laboratories of this current
adoption?

2. What labs are accredited to test to the new standard? (Currently labs are
only accredited to test to TS013 and TS014).

3. Can a lab issue a certificate of conformance against the new standard as
with
TS013 and TS014 or must the applicant submit for the "waiver" and beta permit
and wait several months longer for the approval? The fact is laboratories can
only issue certificates of conformance against adopted standards for which they
are accredited.

4. Is the new standard exactly like the Euro standard or are there still
differences as published in the "Advice to Industry"?

5. Whose test reports are accepted for the new Euro based standard. The Advice
to Industry states that accreditation for European labs will be easier since
they are currently accredited to test to the European standard, there is no
automatic accreditation.

I find it hard to believe that the old TS013 network(s) have been completely
replaced at this time and no companies will want to connect. This is what they
said in Germany with the old 1TR3 standard in 1994 - Well companies are still
testing for either customer requirements or marketing needs.

A word of caution to those going for Austel accreditation for ISDN. Check with
the authorities in Australia for a final answer.
