Hello Treggers

Reference Art Michael's Email stating that the correct terminology is CE
marking and not CE Mark. Please note that the UK Statutory Instruments
implementing the TTE and EMC Directives both define and use the term 'CE
mark'. The SI implementing the amended LVD defines and uses the term 'CE
marking'. Hence it depends om which Directive you are referring to as to
which term is correct.

Original message dated 7 April 1997:-

The terminology, CE Mark, as has been discussed within TREG at great
length is incorrect. The proper nomeclature is "CE marking" as declared
in the CE marking Directive, 93/68/EEC, which also uses the term CE
conformity marking. Also note the use of the lower case "m" in the word
marking.

This clarification is offered in the hopes of contributing to the proper
useage of the term. (Note that Quality Magazine (April 1997) in a 3 page
article titled, "Exporting to the EEA requires CE Mark" has it wrong
throughout the entire article, even when quoting several U.S. and EU
sources, whom I expect, referred to it by its correct name).
