You are no doubt aware that the CE mark demonstrating compliance with the TTE 
Directive contains two additional elements:

1 - The 4 digit ID code of the Notified Body who are responsible for conformity 
to type issues
2 - The _X_ symbol indicating suitability for connection to the public telecom 
network

As I understand it, whenever the CE mark is applied to a product (regardless of 
the Directive(s) concerned) you are supposed to include a statement in the 
product literature explaining which Directives the CE mark is demonstrating 
compliance with. However I agree that it is impossible to tell this just from 
the CE mark on the product itself.
