Rick,

the Directives are published by the European Community.

The Community has an Embassy-like thing in Washington, where you
can ask for and get copies. Don't know that is what you want, as they
tend to be 27th hand photocopies of 12th hand faxes. You also will get
what you ask for and if you ask for the EMC or Low Voltage Directive,
that is what you will get, WITHOUT the amendments. There are
entrepreneurs who can make available to you, on a subscription basis,
electronically, the Directives, the Amendments, and electronic versions
of what the amended Directives look like. Seems to me that is what you
would want. If you want the name of one of the purveyors, give me a
dingle and I'll supply.

CEN, the European counterpart to ISO sells its standards through the
National members of CEN, which are the national standards bodies of
the member states, plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. It is my
understanding that for the USA, ANSI is the distributor for CEN as well
as ISO documents.

The CEN secretariat does not normally do "direct sales" of standards.
You may want to verify that at their Brussels secretariat: +32-2 519-6811=

CENELEC, the European counterpart to IEC has the same policy, and =

again you may want to verify that through their Brussels secretariat
+32 2-519-6871 (May well be the same operator answering).
(Membership is the electrotechnical committees of most of the states =

that are members of CEN, with some variations).

ETSI, which can not quite be called the European counterpart to the ITU-T=

and ITU-R and does sell its standards. I have a CD ROM from them that
includes Standards, Directives and Explanations and is called
ETSI Approvals & ONP CD-ROM.

For information call their information centre in Sophia Antipolis (Southe=
rn
France) at +33 92 94 42 22, or INTERNET:[email protected]
