I can only fully agree with your opnion about these
double standards.

I don't know how well behaved the Taxpulses are in
Switzerland or Austria, but for Germany I'm sure they
aren't well behaved. I guess the old technology didn't
allow them to control the starting point of the taxpuls.

It's the same reason why you see special mention of
the duration of the first ring you (can) get. It can be
a lot shorter than the regular ring because the generator
is just running in the central office and they again have
no control over when the signal is put onto the line.

I guess that all this is only true for old equipment, but there
is still quite some of that around. I will ask the Deutsche Telekom
guy whether he knows if modern equipment is better behaved
in these aspects.
