EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering (BSEE), Computer Systems Engineering (BSCS or BSCSE), Electronic Engineering Technology (BSEET), or Equivalent. In lieu of this, directly related experience can be considered. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Two years of progressive regulatory experience with at least one year experience in the telecommunications industry. Areas of experience are Telecom, Safety and EMC. The ideal candidate would have experience in all three disciplines. Willing to process the paperwork required to release engineering documentation via Engineering Change Notices (ECN). Able to read electronic assembly drawings, Bills of Material (BOM) and schematics for the purposes of implementing changes as determined by self or others. Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing. OTHER DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Required to assemble, test, debug and document Inter-Tel products. Will review technical specifications (EIA, FCC, UL, BABT, ETSI, CSA, JATE etc.) and recommend changes to product designs in order to meet requirements. Knowledge of PBX equipment and general telephone system interfaces such as T1, Loop-Start Interface, and Single-Line Phone Interface. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Performs the following engineering assignments utilizing some independent judgment and discretion. The resulting work is functionally reviewed by the direct supervisor: Maintains contact with external suppliers whose products need to meet regulatory requirements. Perform duties associated with BABT ALE (Approval Liaison Engineer). Reviews, as assigned, technical specifications (EIA, FCC, UL, BABT, ETSI, CSA, JATE etc.) and recommends changes to product design as needed to meet requirements. Arranges for personal development through trade publications and seminar attendance in order to stay updated with the latest requirements in the regulatory field.
