To Vic et al, I sympathize and similarly complain about the messages with attachments. I have also noticed that, after being notified that only text messages (without attachments) be sent to this server to prevent this very problem from occuring, a message comes in with an attachment. Arrggg....
However, the accidental will always exist. And whenever this happens, it is important that that party should step up to the bar and admit to it (there's no shame in admitting a mistake). But, that may never happen given the number of occurances of unidentified emails arriving on this server (this has always been a pet peeve of mine). I liken this to having a conversation with an intercom (you have no idea who you are talking to). It would appear that anonymity is precious to those. To me (and I'm sure there are others like me), if I author a request or response, I want people to know that I was the one that sent it. I feel that this is important in that people who respond will know to whom they will be responding to, should they choose to. Also and to be fair, it might not occur to those people to identify themselves in the message body because internal email systems handle that task automatically in the message header while email sent to internet list servers (such as TREG) strip the header info from the message. But, I feel it important to take the time to personalize messages that I have sent and applaud those that do also. And as far as the humor goes, any place without humor is a dull and sour place indeed and regulating it will prove an impossible task. So, let's keep it to a minimum and keep the jocularity in the pubs where it belongs. TREG is a valuable, and I stress VALUABLE, asset for us compliance types. Let's keep its value high. Now, I'm done ranting and this soapbox is getting far too teetery. I have to get down quick. I hope I haven't offended anyone and hope that TREG will continue to be the strong and informative asset it has been since my introduction to it. Sincerely and with best regards, Ron Pickard [email protected] PS, This has been the shedding of my opinions alone.
