The purpose of this Directive (can't remember its exact title, and it will not be available on the web) is a weights and measures provision, and it is primarily aimed at what you and I buy in the food shops, e.g. bags, packets, jars and tins. The Directive does contain requirements on the general labelling of products, and could be read, were one to be so inclined, to address engineering data that accompanies electrical and electronic products. The general UK stance is not to stir up trouble unless enforcement authorities start doing silly things - as far as we are aware the situation is reasonable at the moment. It is probably better not to ask the EU governments and the Commission questions whose answers we don't want to hear.
