We have received Babco tester information that indicates this tester does
"all" the test for medical products, and several other claims. This is a bit
difficult to swallow..... we are considering to assist in testing (knowing it
does not do all tests), but are concerned that the some manufacturers will
incorrectly see this as their total certification responsibilities, where more
acquainted manufacturers have invested the time and funds to completely
review a product. Babco's written claims are as follows:

"Instantly puts you in compliance with any electrical safety testing standard
in the world today"

It makes the new, mandated IEC 601-1, EN 60601-1, UL 2601-1 or any other IEC
601-1 equivalent safety tests. Assures you that your medical equipment won't
be stopped at European customs after 1996"

It makes the new, mandated interfacing business equipment IEC 950 safety tests
and IEC 1010 test equipment safety tests."

"Equips you to comply with medical equipment safety tests anywhere in the
world as these new standards are harmonized in all developed countries the
next few years"

"...makes all tests to the satisfaction of TUV and UL, electrically and
mechanically,.."

Anyone have any feedback on:

1. If their claims are causing problems with manufacturers/new test labs, etc.
2. If the tester actually has the proper circuits for testing all standards
(and others claimed)
3. Has anyone actually used this and have any feedback on if it works?
4. Any other input?

Thanks AL S.
