Ron, thanks for catching the following _error_ in my previous message: | "the scope of 3101 includes equipment for "measurement and test" and | for "computing devices"."
What I should have said is: "the scope of IEC 61010 includes measurement and test equipment." When UL harmonized with IEC 61010 they broke the scope into two parts (created two distinct standards). UL3101-1 covers all of the lab equipment that IEC 61010-1 does *except* for measurement and test equipment. UL3111-1 covers the "measuring and test" equipment (laboratory voltmeters and the like) The current version (Oct. 93) of 3101 includes Amendment I of 61010. According to sources at UL, a version of 3101 which includes Amendment II of 61010 should be out this fall. This version should have both Amendment I and Amendment II incorporated into the text of the standard. [now, if they would only include the deviations too...] More detailed info. on good 'ol UL1262: UL stopped evaluating new equipment to 1262 as of Jan. 1 of this year. If you have old equipment listed under 1262 the listing will expire on Jan. 1, 2003. Prior to this date you should have it re-evaluated under the appropriate UL31x1-1 standard. -Mark Werlwas Product Safety Engineer Lam Research Corporation [email protected] ----------
