The para you refer to tries to tell the reader that even if the local Central Office is capable of providing answer back supervision, the remote office were the call is being answered, may NOT be able to do so. In that case, the local Central Office cannot pass on what it does not receive. There are switches in Upper Slobovia that do not provide Answer Supervision. Even if the remote Central Office does transmit Answer Back supervision, not necessarily all Central Offices are equipped to detect this and pass this on. While I am confident that the switches of the big Central Office manufacturers all have the capability to do so, they can only do so if the Telephone Company chose to buy the particular software to do so. Most Telephone Companies unfortunately do not always buy ALL the software available from the manufacturer. Ciao, Vic
