Hi Kevin,

fraid that isnt quite correct. Products approved under
the old PTC
Scheme will need to be registered under the new HKTEC Scheme.
Manufacturers holding PTC certificates need simply apply to OFTA for a
certificate under the new CCS scheme and mark the product according
to the new regulations. Currently the proposed date after which
products approved under the old PTC scheme cannot be supplied is
 July 1st 1999.

Hi Pierre-Marie,

Sorry this is rather a late reply but I have not seen any other replies to
your question.

To the best of my knowledge any previously approved product with PTC will
remain in force (ie no need to get the product approved again.

The new regulatory regime was introduced as of 25 Sep 98. It essentially
uses the same standards but removes control the product certification
responsibility from Hong Kong Telecom. OFTA now has regulatory
responsibility and certified (read approves) products also.

The new regulatory scheme is called HKTEC (Hong Kong Telecommunications
Equipment Evaluation and Certification Scheme.

You can still gain approval under the CPR Evaluation scheme using CPE
Evaluation Section of Hong Kong Telecom however, this will only be
available for a few more months.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
