To all the seasoned approvals specialists this seems a silly question, but to many like Jayesh, this is a real question. I have long felt that our institutions of higher learning (at least many of them) do not prepare their students for the real world by not having a "Standards 101" course, with (mandatory) refresher courses every 2 years or so. (1) A factory is never approved to build product, products build by a factory may or may not be approved for marketing in particular jurisdictions. (2) European Directives apply only to Member States of the European Union, may be implemented by some non-member states and do not apply to factories but to products. (3) Directive 91/263/EEC is not the only Directive that applies to your products in Europe, depending on what the product is. For the US, you need to comply with electrical safety requirements as set out in the National Electrical Code and elaborated in the applicable standards, with FCC requirements as elaborated in Parts 2, 15 and 68 of the FCC Rules and Regulations (and possibly some other Rules). Suggest you obtain the services of a Consultant. Vic Boersma
