Dear Group,

I wish to collect information from all members regarding the various
interfaces used in ITE and Telecommunication Equipment today
and assignment of the following designations according to EN 60
950/ UL1950/ IEC 950 Standards for each interface: SELV, TNV-1,
TNV-2, TNV-3 and Hazardous Secondary. Such interfaces can be
data/telecom/satellite interfaces (example: RS-232, 10BaseT,
100BaseT, PSTN, E1/T1, ISDN S, ISDN-U, VSAT ), Remote Power
Feeding interfaces (example: HDSL), Cental Office DC Supply,
Wireless System Interfaces, etc. etc. Also, please assign the
maximum dc and ac voltages involved for each interface.

Once I gather all of this useful information, I plan to make a Table
and post it to the whole group.

Note that for some interfaces, such as E1/T1 the assigned "rating"
may be either TNV-1 or SELV depending on whether the interface
goes outside the building and subjected to overvoltages or stays
within the building and is not subject to overvoltage. Your list
should therefore include some notes when a circuit may have dual
ratings depending on application. Another example is CO dc
supplies which may be considered TNV-2 , SELV or Hazardous
Secondary depending on country and the maximum supply voltage
rating.

I look forward to hearing from all of your safety/telecom experts out
there. Let's help each other overcome the tremendous burden in
evaluating separation requirements when designing equipment with
various interfaces.

Regards,
