Thanks for the update. I was wondering if anyone had actually bought it. I'm
a little gun shy because it's very likely we will have a new Treo in the next 6
months. That new Treo (whether it's PalmOS-based or PPC-based) should have
wifi built in - if it doesn't Palm has really blundered big time!

Anyway, could you give some actual general impressions of the device, not so
much configuration details, but how does it change the user experience over
EDGE (or the CDMA equivalent)? The other question is, can it function as a
wifi detector? Or actually, I know there's an app out there that lets your
palm function as a wifi detector if it has wifi capability. Have you tried
that? My thought is that I'll still be pretty disappointed because wifi
signals are few and far between compared to the ubiquity of mobile signals.
True there are Starbucks and Borders (and McDonalds in some areas), but that
means yet more money per month (or whenever you want to use it), and of course
there are your random cafes with wifi, residences with unprotected wifi
(intentionally or unintentionally), and even a few areas of muni-wifi, but it
still doesn't compare...

Subject: [Treo] Wifi sled (Enfora)

The Enfora sled works well, after I conducted a lot of experimentation
that differs from the manual. I have stripped off encryption for now.
1. The manual states, "When the status displays Associated you can
click on Connect to enable a Wireless connection."
2. I tried the manual's way for a long, unsuccessful time. What did
work after selecting the wifi network name was to use the switch to
turn on the sled, watch the "TX" setting add bits, and finally when
the "RX" setting shows some bits after maybe two minutes push the
connect button to see the sled "Associated"
3. Occasionally I have had to tap the sled power button to keep it
from "timing out." (That may be therapeutic, but it works for me.)
This process has added a lot of dependability in logging on.
