I have adopted a different and so far acceptable strategy to combat the SMS lockup problems. FYI, I've never had the whole thing lock up, but I have had it lock up for up to 15 seconds - an eternity when one is trying to send a message.
I noticed that the incidence of lockups increased the longer I had a threaded conversation in place. That is, the deeper the threaded conversation got, the more likely and lengthy the lockups. I really like the threaded conversation, and tended to just leave threads in place and pick up conversations hours or days later. My new practice is to delete threads once the specific conversation is over. When I do that, I get few lockups and they are much shorter. There still seems to be a brief lockup when the send confirmation comes back after a message is sent (this may be only a Verizon thing). Anyway, deleting conversations when they're done seems to help me avoid the problem. FWIW. This is the behavior that drove me to the Agendus Mail SMS app. I'll try one more thing with the built-in SMS app: delete the two SMS files in RAM and then disable all threading (Chat). If I get another lockup, I'll switch back to the Agendus Mail SMS app, which never locked up on me. --- In [email protected] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> , Ralph Alvy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I get more Flushing Cache notices when Reset Doctor is set to flush at 13M, > but I hardly ever get a reset device, and so far no lockups with SMS.
