Maybe there's a pattern - lots of hype, not much real improvement - then
one day something really nice comes out.
I've been a bit disappointed in my 680. I bought it largely because
the computer and display specs were as good as the 650, it had more
memory, and was reputed to have better radios -- phone and BT.
I think the radio claims are correct. BT headset seems to allow me
to walk farther from the phone, and I get improved reception in many places.
I haven't had a battery problem, mostly because I have a Seidio
retractable USB connector that I plug into when I'm at my desk and that
keeps me sync'd and charged. (I'm contemplating buying the 3200 battery
only because I'm getting ready for a couple of road trips and may be
unable to charge even in a car.)
Sure enough, there's more memory, which should make the thing more
stable (it does) and faster (it's NOT!!!!).
In fact, I find waiting around to switch apps, give me back my phone
after a call -- stuff like that -- is most aggravating.
And now it appears the long-awaited 755 (for which I almost put off
the 680 purchase) likely wouldn't have been much better.
I'm hoping a new firmware upgrade or two, and maybe the 650 hobbyists
migrating to make the 680 actually do what it ought, will be soon
galloping over the horizon.
I'm a Palm guy from the beginning, but reading comments like these
new offerings is not a good sign.
