Well, now, the final chapter in the "Don just wants to connect his laptop through Bluetooth to get to the internet" saga.
The "knowledgeable" guy last night apparently set up the PAM option to take effect on my account on June 19th. Not sure exactly how he thought that would help me with my issue last night. I called today and was only on hold for 15 minutes to get to customer service and then another 5 minutes to get to tech support (in Ohio). The tech support guy in Ohio spent about 2 minutes looking at my account, turned on PAM, and BAM! it worked! So: I'm happy that it's working. I'm not happy that I had to spend close to 6 hours on hold talking to people who, until this last guy, didn't know what they were doing. I'm happy that the 755p is a better-made, cleaner, lighter device than the 700p. I'm not happy that I have to charge the battery during the day to keep it to a level where I'm comfortable. I'm happy that the voice coverage seems to be more consistent than Verizon, and just as good overall. I'm not happy that I'll have to now open the box on the 2gb miniSD card to test out how well that works. My guess is that the update for the 700p is to bring it to the level of the 755p, which would bring along with it additional stability (755p has not reset once for any reason), better Bluetooth connectivity, more stable music playback (which the 755p is supposed to offer - haven't tested that yet). Yes, this is making me psycho!! If the 755p had a bigger battery and an SD card slot, and if Sprint had support that answered the phone as quickly as Verizon, I'd be more mentally stable. For me it comes down to this: I can't continue having people call me back upon receiving a voicemail from me saying "I got your message but it was breaking up pretty badly and I couldn't hear most of it." That'd be like a car salesman having his car break down on the way to an appointment to sell a car. Not good. Can't wait for the Treo IX. Don's initial journey with Sprint and the 755p Yeah, no kidding! The guy who finally knew what I was talking about and actually understood what to do said that the provisioning for the PAM option should be completed within 4 hours and that 2 hours was typical. We're about 1/2 hour away from the 2-hour mark, so we'll see if he really new what he was talking about or was just blowing warm wind up my shorts. I have to say, in fairness to Sprint, that I was very unimpressed (as documented here in detail) with my initial experience with Verizon customer service. That changed dramatically with further experience, so this might too. So far: ugh. Customer support: ugh, ugh, ugh. Precisely. Pretty much opposite of T-Mo in every way (except for the cost bit...T-Mo is nothing if not inexpensive). Yahoo! Groups Links
