I see no performance degradation at all. I think it's very clever to
do all that it does so well. 

In reply to another post, yes it did create some instability at times
through its initial life, but it's rock-solid for me now. 

And sorry, yes I should say "Microsoft Exchange". 

I don't know if Chatter can keep copies of deleted messages on the SD
card - I've never used SD card storage in Chatter. There's a manual at
http://www.palm.com/us/chatteremail/downloads.html.

So I think Chatter is a great solution if you just want push email
without the Exhange complications (and expense), especially if your
existing ISP already supports IMAP and IDLE (or you go with someone
like Fastmail). BTW, does Versamail run in the background like Chatter
so you get email notifications even if you're using another app?

I don't know what "As an aside, the iPhone will use Push IMAP, a new
protocol based on IMAP." referred to. My hope is that the iPhone just
has an IMAP/IDLE-capable mail client that would work with any server.
