For safety purposes, make an SD card backup (NVBackup is an excellent freebie). A last hotsync will make sure your PIMs are properly transferred.
Then make sure to rename your backup folder under PalmDesktop tree or you will just put all that thrash back which you just wanted to put outside. Next Hard reset and sync again using old id.
