Thanks for the suggestion Greg, Nico, dbscan saw no deleted records and did
not solve the problem.

After messing around with it a little bit more and looking at the memos file
on my computer I noticed that there were no dates on the entries.  I never
really paid attention to this before so I don't know if it was the problem
or not.  So I created a new entry in my computer with a date.  Resynced the
device and had the computer overwrite the handheld file.  Seems to work ok
now.
