I use Kinoma, mainly to play WMV files, but have issues/complaints about it. Some comments:
- It isn't integrated into the Treo's other apps, such as VersaMail. When I try to play an attached .wmv file, for example, I get an error message saying there is no player for this type of file. To view it, I have to save the file to my device (or card), then open Kinoma which finds it and lists it in its list of playable files. - Kinoma's audio on podcasts is severely distorted. It's hard to explain what it's doing other than to say that when a person is speaking (like on SDR Tech News Podcast, or NPR Science Friday, for example) the voice sounds like it's being broadcast from outer space with echoes and weird distortions. The same file played on pTunes sounds normal. I've deleted and reinstalled Kinoma, and even upgraded to the latest version, but there is no change. The weird thing is that music files and videos (such as .wmv) play and sound fine. Only spoken words on podcasts sound strange. - Kinoma takes ownership of all multimedia files. Most times I'd prefer to use pTunes to play podcasts (especially because of the audio distortion detailed in paragraph above), but clicking on the podcast file automatically opens it in Kinoma. I can't figure out how to set preferences on the Treo to specify which app should open certain file types.
