If you search the archives here you'll likely find several choices. The
most recent thread turned me onto Textras, and I couldn't be, so far,
more happy.
Of course, anyone who's been around Palm long can remember the
dearly departed shortcuts, which disappeared about the same time Palm
decided a keyboard was the only way to go and shrunk the screen size to
make room for an equally tiny keyboard.
Shortcut5 works well, except the shortcuts are short -- 5-char
limit. That didn't work well for me, mostly because I'd become used to
many of my shortcuts having six. On the other hand, if you haven't been
using a text completion tool -- including the auto correct feature in,
say, MS Word, you could well be happy with five characters, and
therefore be more than pleased with Shortcut5.
Then there's Textras. I love it. I can make a 6+ character shortcut,
and a long defined string. It's like have my word processor's
auto-complete in the Palm of my hand. Since I also use Jot (no longer
available, but I've saved a backup copy) to enable writing on the
screen, Textras is a gift from the computer gods.
