Problem:
When using the Treo/Centro (700p, 755p, Centro) with Versamail and a Microsoft Exchange service, and syncing the calendar (in addition to email and contacts), and when the time zone of the server is different from the time zone of the Treo/Centro, entries on the calendar that were created in Outlook and subsequently pushed to the Treo/Centro show up at the correct time, but with a parenthetical at the end containing the time in the time zone of the server. This only occurs when events are created in Outlook, and only to events that are non-recurring. Example: Appointment in Outlook: 9:30 pm Write an email about Versamail time zone problem with Exchange What appears in the Palm: 9:30 pm Write an email about Versamail time zone problem with Exchange (11:30 pm EDT) Functionally it does not cause any problems, but it is VERY annoying! Solution Needed: Since Palm shows no apparent interest in fixing this, even though it is a well- and long-documented problem that would be trivial to fix (DON'T DISPLAY THE THING IN PARENTHESES!!), what is needed is a calendar database scanner that can be set to look for events in a particular time zone and convert them to another time zone. In my case, for example, it would look for all events set to EDT and convert them to MDT. It occurs to me that DB6 might not display the (xx:xx am/pm EDT) suffix, and so maybe using DB6 would be a solution - even though I've never found a reason to use DBx in the past - but I'd bet some enterprising programmer with some familiarity with the Palm datebook file format could make a couple of bucks selling a utility that would do this.
