Hmmmmmmmm. I guess it all goes to location, location, location. In 1999-2000 when I was putting together the IBM Y2K command center for the western US, we bought several phones from each carrier to test them out. The Sprint service at that time sucked big time. 5 complete service drops between my office and my home. At that time, however, in our command center north of Boulder, Sprint had the best service of all of them. NOW, Sprint has the best service of all of them in the entire area in which I usually drive (Denver/Boulder metro area).
