Seems like WCDMA is used in Japan while CDMA2000 is used in the US

Here's a tongue twister. HSDPA runs on UMTS networks that utilize
WCDMA to achieve speeds above 1Mbit/s.

I didn't realize that CDMA technology was also used in UMTS.
