No, there is no GPS transmitter either.  I think you are confused by the 
locator service that Sprint offers "Sprint Family Locator" - it locates you 
based on your cell phone's radio signals.  GPS is something different.  It's a 
specific system of satellites and it has nothing to do with the carrier.  You 
can get a GPS device that is not part of a phone.  Some phones DO have GPS 
receivers built into them, but the Treo 700wx doesn't.  If it did, you would 
not need an external GPS device to locate yourself.  Google Maps has been 
trying to use this carrier-specific locating service to do a kind of "poor 
man's GPS" - poor man's because it only has an accuracy of within 10's, perhaps 
hundreds of meters, whereas true GPS is accurate to within less than 10 meters 
I believe.
