My Seidio extended battery lasts OK but reports wrong voltage throughout the
day, sometimes even causing the Treo to think the battery level is low and
shutting down (!!!).

This has been my first and last product from them. I still use the battery
when I need extra juice but I too have reverted to the standard Palm
battery.

Truth is, those "alternative products" companies (Seidio, Proporta, Boxwave,
etc.) sell lower-grade products, hence the lower prices. Their margins are
as high as Palm's or as those of any other major manufacturer. Build quality
itself is lower.
