It works like sending a short sms to Google.  It accesses their 
database and get's a response, such as an address and phone number.  
Interestingly, I just tried Yahooing my office, and got my business 
and a business that is competitive and not too close.
 
I use text messaging with Google regularly for things like weather 
and addresses.  If you text 46645 (GOOGL) with a ?, you get a 
response with some instructions.  Some of the current ones would be
 
W for weather   w nyc (weather new york city)
M 10804  (movies near zip code 10804)
