I've been experimenting with Bluetooth headsets again, most recently with the H700 from Motorola and the Voyage 815 from Plantronics. While the latter is by far the best Bluetooth headset I've tried, there is one key usability item that sets the H700 far above *any* of the other headsets I've tried. It is this: When you close the boom on the H700, it is OFF. It shuts off and disconnects from the Treo/Centro. I believe this is handy for me for these reasons: 1. This lets me alternately use my car kit or the headset, without having to remember whether the headset is off or not and then press and hold the on/off button like one has to do with all but these Motorola boom headsets. 2. This saves battery on the headset, since it's off. 3. This saves battery on the Treo/Centro since it's not connected to anything via Bluetooth. I'm not 100% sure of these last two benefits, really, but it SEEMS like they would be true. Anyway, the H700 is inferior to the Plantronics in sound volume and quality. I'm pretty stunned by how bad the Treo/Centro Bluetooth implementation must be, given that if I have the Treo/Centro on one side of my head and the headset on the other, there is too much static to hear the call.
