Well, Sprint has replaced my new Centro with another new one, and I still have the same odd charging problem I had with the first one -- a problem I have never had with previous Palm devices ...
First Centro: After about 2 weeks of overnight charges, I started to notice the device would have a red LED in the morning, especially if being charged around 10 hours (usually 8-10 hours), even though it was green for many hours before it switched to red. The phone is off all night every night, and I have no background events going on during that time. This seemed to be better if I did an In-Cradle Reset to reset its charging calibration before retiring each night (Soft Reset while plugged in, and then leave it charging). Second Centro: After about 3 days of overnight charge, the same thing started to happen. I haven't started to do nightly In-Cradle Resets with this device. I'll start tonight. Needless to say, I'm worried about frying the battery with all this overcharging while the LED is red. I can say that when it's red, after a long time being green, software says the battery is at 99% and charging. When this happens, it will not go back to green unless I unplug it and then plug it back in again. I can't surmise if this is a battery problem or a device problem. I really don't want to get another exchange because this second device is so much nicer than the previous one, I don't want to jinx my luck here. The keys are much more raised and easier to use, and the screen is more sensitive to the stylus. I have a feeling this is a ROM problem. I'd love to see if others find that long overnight charging (10+ hours) for a few days in a row causes this problem in their Centros.
